Max Weber biography:

I choose to write about Max Weber. He was a German sociologist and political economist, son of protestant parents, who lived between 1864 and 1920. He has a particular vision of sociology that in his time was actually a very original one. He thinks that the center of the investigation should be individuals’ action and their meaning. But, it’s difficult to discover the real significant on the human acting, that’s why he development a methodology to decipher the individual action and this way understand the society, always under the premise that the collective action it’s not the same that the reunion of all individuals actions. Two of his most famous works are The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism (1905) and Economy and Society (1914), where in general terms, speaks about how Protestantism expand the idea of capitalism in Europe, especially in Germany and how society create her own ways of production . He writes in a very complex way, so requires lots of concentration.I like him because his vision of sociology change the way that people use to watch society , adding to the subject action an important paper overvalued in that century.

  4. Hi, Manuela
I think that Max Weber is hard to understand because of his way to write and we all need to take time to decipher what he tried to say, but I think (for what I think that I understood) that the importance that he gives to the social action with sense made by a person is really significant if we want to understand him beyond the external explanations.

    Take care!
